Profile – Mili Davies

Mili Davies

Mili Davies (née Milica Ilić) is one of the most respected classical guitarists in the world today. Her debut album propelled her to work with some of the finest musicians, including Jose Carreras , Tommy Emmanuel, John Renbourn and legendary jazz guitarist Martin Taylor, making her a household name in both the six-string based as well as classical circles.

Mili’s special talent for the guitar has been apparent since the age of seven. She began performing in her early teens, and began teaching the guitar at the age of 15. She went on to study music formally with Dr. John Casey at the University of Western Australia, where she graduated with first class honours. She was then presented with the prestigious Western Australian Citizen of the Year award in 2004.

Now living in London, where she lectures in guitar  at the prestigious Purcell School, Mili has produced two widely acclaimed classical guitar albums Rouge Guitar (2005) and Stir the Sky (2007), aired on classic fm UK as well as ABC Classic FM Australia. The vibrancy and passion that pervades her own music is reflected in the depth of her compositions.

Mili’s unique tone is furthermore aided with the excellent craftsmanship of her principal guitar maker, Paul Sheridan.

She is currently involved in writing the new guitar manual, Guitar inTuition.
